Enjoy the Beauty of Kelam Festival Tourism

Officially the annual event organized by the Regional Government of Sintang Regency has been opened. Kelam Tourism Festival is held to socialize the existence of culture, tourism, industrial, and trade and investment opportunities in Sintang District. TWA GunungKelam acts as an icon so that it is expected to be a gateway to the success of the tourism sector and other sectors in Sintang District that can improve the economy and the standard of living of its people. Kelam Tourism Festival is held for one week, from 8 to 14 July 2019, filled with a series of events, including GawaiDayakSintang District, Cultural Art Show, Fun Climbing, Bike to Dark, Business Forum and other supporting events.

At the Kelam Tourism Festival 2019, participants will be invited to rock climbing sports with two hiking trails. First, use an iron ladder with a height of about 900 meters, and the second, through a cliff that stands 90 degrees upright. The participants of the Bukit Kelam cliff length will be presented with the appearance of rare plants, namely the Semar Bag (Genus Nepenthes) or Entuyut on the hilltop. In addition to Bukit Kelam rock climbing, participants can also participate in air rifle sports, 10-kilometer running competitions with views of the Bukit Kelam tourist park, and casual cycling. In terms of culture, participants will be presented with cultural performances that will feature art attractions from the community that is dominated by Dayaks and Malays. This performance will feature the BujangSebeji Legend, a legendary figure from the Sintang folklore about the origin of the dark hill. No less important, the sound of the sape, Sintang District traditional music will also be played to all festival participants.

Not only that, but the participants will also be shown with the SintangDayakGawai. This is an expression of gratitude for the abundant rice harvest. This activity will feature traditional authentic Dayak tribes and rituals, cultural parades, and traditional game competitions such as cackling, pangkakgasing, painting, perisasi, catching pigs, and much more. In line with sustainable tourism programs promoted by the Lestari Regency Gathering Circle (LTKL), Sintang District will apply the principle of "environmentally friendly" in the whole series of the 2019 Kelam Tourism Festival. Use of rattan plates and banana leaves for consumption activities, do not use plastic bottles/bags, also provide refill drinking water for tumbler carriers.

Join in the collaboration forum of the district government to realize sustainable development in Indonesia, namely the Lestari Regency Meeting Circle (LTKL). Sintang Regency is committed to improving the competitiveness of its region through culinary promotions, souvenirs, and sustainable tourism. In collaboration with the KAUM Jakarta restaurant, an exploration visit has been carried out to get to know more about the food and beverage ingredients typical of the Sintang Regency. As a result of the trip, KAUM Jakarta will bring food directly from Sintang. For example, starch and sour Maram are only found in the Sintang forest and lais fish obtained from the Kapuas River. The ingredients will be remanufactured to make Sintang special foods and drinks such as chili saucesalailais and cucumber sintang ice.

With the "A Taste of Kalimantan" meeting with the exploration of taste and culture of Sintang District at KAUM Jakarta Restaurant which was attended by Markus Open as Assistant 3 of the Sintang District Head and all sintang district apparatus organizations, representatives of ministries, the private sector, the media, and partners - development partner. At this meeting, guests will see the typical Sintang weaving exhibition and taste the typical culinary of Sintang Regency.
